Conference Overview

The Conference Keynote, A New Definition of Dementia: A shift in the way a person experiences the world with Keynote Speaker Dr. G. Allen Power, Geriatrician, Author, Educator and Musician.

Dr. Power’s presentation will highlight the larger issues of dementia and aging in the 21st century. He will first comment on the nature of dementia (including drawbacks of our current medical approach), and then discuss demographic trends and our need to shift societal views, systems and accommodations. He will share information about the emerging movement around human rights for people living with dementia and share a vision for a more inclusive society.

The one-day conference consists of an introduction, keynote, awards presentation, and three session times offering 14 workshop choices and the Expo Hall with approximately 50 sponsors and exhibitors along with UW Book Store.

We expect 600+ participants, including healthcare professionals, medical providers and family caregivers, who will build their knowledge and understanding of Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias. The Discovery schedule includes dedicated Expo Hall time with the intent to provide ample time for building new relationships with potential customers and individuals who could provide referrals.
